Stacking The Shelves and Sunday Post

This meme is hosted by Tynga over at Team Tynga's Reviews, which she describes as follows:

"Stacking The Shelves is all about the books we are adding to our shelves each week, sharing with you our excitement for our newest titles and maybe have you discover a new book in the process!"

Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme

I hate Daylight Savings Time!!
I think every parent will likely agree with me! Just when it was starting to get lighter in the mornings and making it easier to wake up, we spring forward so that it goes back to being dark when it's time to get up! How does that make any sense?!? The dark mornings are going to be bad enough, but now it will be impossible to get the kids to go to bed while it's light out. Ugh!!! Whoever invented Daylight Savings Time clearly never had children! I wish we were like our prairie neighbours in Saskatchewan, who don't switch over!

So, I've lost an hour of sleep, and I'm not a person who sleeps well anyways, so I think I got about 4.5 hrs last night. I already feel a headache coming on :(

Waking up to -16 degrees Celsius (which is equivalent to 3.2 degrees Fahrenheit) with a windchill of -22 degrees Celsius (that's -7.6 degrees Fahrenheit). Here's our morning sky:

Thankfully, we missed the worst of that Winter Storm from the Dakotas earlier this week. We were expecting a dump of 30 cm of snow, and we received only about 5 cm but had the bitterly cold winds clicking at about 90 km/hr. Other regions outside of the city, not so lucky! The highways were closed for two days, and some towns had snow drifts up to 20 feet!!! Check out these photos:

Even though the highways re-opened on Thursday (after being shut down for 48 hrs), some towns are still in a State of Emergency. Let's hope everyone is safe!

If you missed it earlier, I have ARCs to swap. Check out MY POST to see if there's anything there that you'd like to read. If so, please let me know! I'd love to trade with someone. I will be adding to it once I have a chance to dig through boxes and bookshelves.

  1. I know zero people that like daylight savings time change. Personally I prefer it to be this time (as of this morning) all the time, because I like it to be lighter later, but mostly I don't care either way I just hate making the change. This whole week will be rough just because of that one hour!

And all that snow! Yikes! Stay warm and stay safe.

  2. Ugh...I hate Daylight Savings time. It's like you're used to one schedule and then the next minute, you have to adjust your schedule because the hours were changed during the day!

  4. OMG that SNOW! Time changes are the worst --- this go round isn't actually hitting me as hard as the other direction did, surprisingly. My daughter was born last May, and she had settled into sleeping fairly well from 7/7:30ish until sometime in the early morning (5 or 6ish?) with just one or two interruptions. Then we "fell back" and she stayed at the same absolute time. So for the last half a year or so she's been going to bed around 6/6:30ish and being WIDE AWAKE by 4 or 5. I'm looking forward to going back to the later times for her.

When she's older, though, I'm sure this one will be miserable :P

  5. I didn't get much sleep either last night. I do like it lighter at the end of the day, but agree on how dark it is in the morning. So hard for kids.

Awesome you got Blood Rose Rebellion and Nemesis. I'm excited for both of these.

  6. That is definitely a snow storm. We are expecting one overnight. Hope it doesn't dump too much on us. Not a fan of the time change either!!!

  7. I hate Daylight Savings! It's so stupid! I almost forgot about it this weekend, but I remembered and managed to go to bed earlier than usual. It's so frustrating!

I loved The Bone Season! Congrats on the win! I read the most recent book and it was fantastic. A seven-book series though... I'm nervous.

I hope you enjoy all of your new books! Have a fabulous week, Darlene. =)

    Check out my STS post!
