Fireheart could hear a roaring around him, like wind in tall trees. The acrid stench of the Thunderpath stung his nostrils, together with a new smell, sharper and more terrifying. Fire!

Book Two of Warriors continues Fireheart's quest to be a true warrior, when he finds new danger lurking in the woods as the chill of winter sets in.

WindClan is missing, and hostilities between the remaining three clans place all the cats in peril. Illness and tragic accidents weaken the camp, and ThunderClan needs all its warriors to defend itself - but Fireheart suspects that certain cats may not be as loyal as they appear.

MY REVIEW:

I am just loving this series! I am reading it aloud to my younger daughter, but she became so immersed in the book that she started taking it to school and reading it at Silent Reading Time so we ended up finishing it at different times on our own.

This story picks up immediately where Into the Wild left off. I am enjoying watching Fireheart evolve from a kittypet to a warrior mentoring an apprentice. There is some strife between Fireheart and Graystripe, due to Graystripe's relationship with one of the RiverClan cats. It was sad to see Fireheart hurting and lonely for the companionship of his friend. This resulted in Fireheart feeling like he doesn't belong, and he seeks out his kittypet sister.

Yellowfang is going through as big a transition as Fireheart, and she too has become a wonderful mentor! I love how the majority of the ThunderClan members have embraced the two former outsiders. I still don't trust TigerClaw, and Fireheart better watch his back! I'm happy to see that WindClan is back and look forward to getting to know that clan better.

My younger daughter reads well above grade level, but she is what you would call a "reluctant reader." I read once that there is no such thing as a reluctant reader. It just means that he/she hasn't found the right kind of book yet! I am so happy that my daughter has now found a series that she loves, and it pleases me so much to see her curled up with a book. I'm also very happy that, in addition to the original series, there are an additional five spin-off series in the Warriors Universe, plus the Super Editions and Novellas and Field Guides, so these books will keep us busy for a long time!

We are continuing on with the next book in the series, Forest of Secrets

MY RATING:

5 stars!! I loved it and will likely re-read it. Highly recommended if you enjoy MG/YA fantasy.
